Jordan Peele’s racism horror was a surprise hit at box office. Starring Daniel Kaluuya as an African-American guy who travels to an estate for the weekend to visit his white girlfriend, the film became an international phenomenon,  as well as a box office success. And it’s now been declared the most profitable movie of 2017 so far, according to calculations by The Wrap. Peele’s directorial debut was made for $4.5 million with a marketing budget estimated at $30 million, and it took a whopping $252 million worldwide. That’s a 630% return on investment.

The film is expected to make even more from DVD and rental sales too.

Beauty and the Beast and The Fate of the Furious are top of the charts for the year in terms of highest grossing, both taking more than $1.2 billion worldwide, though each had a much bigger budget than Get Out with Beauty and the Beast made for $160 million and Fate of the Furious made for $250 million.

Congrats to Jordan Peele and the entire cast. Can’t wait to see what he has in store for us next.
