Looks like controversial rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine is in some serious hot water as it emerged that he is facing a mandatory minimum sentence of 32 years in prison after being arrested by federal police on racketeering and firearm charges.

According to Rolling Stone, the rapper, real name Daniel Hernandez, was arrested on Sunday (November 18) and remains in federal custody alongside four of his former associates, Kifano “Shotti” Jordan, Jensel “Ish” Butler, Jamel “Mel Murda” Jones and Faheem “Crippy” Water. They also face many of the same charges as Hernandez, as well as drug charges stemming from the sales of heroin, fentanyl, MDMA and marijuana, prosecutors said. The charges are the result of a five-year federal investigation.

While Hernandez’ attorney, Lance Lazzaro, advocated for bail for his client under the condition that Hernandez surrenders his passport, pay over $1 million for bail and be placed under house arrest, this was denied by the judge citing that the rapper may still be a danger to the community even if those bail conditions were met. Hernandez’ legal team plans to appeal that decision.

The news comes just days after 6ix9ine announced that he fired his management and the rest of his team late last week, alleging in an Instagram video they had been stealing from him.

To make matters worse for the rapper, his recent arrest is a violation of the probation set last month at his sentencing hearing for his ongoing case for use of a minor in a sexual performance. The judge in that case sentenced him to a four-year probation, under which two of the conditions were that he not get arrested for the period of said probation, and resist from associating with any known gang members.
