Here is a first look at Idris Elba in his brand new Sky1 comedy In The Long Run.

The series, which will air on Sky in the UK on March 29, is loosely based on Elba’s childhood. The Award-winning actor is in an ensemble cast that also includes comedian and actor Bill Bailey, Kellie Shirley and Mattie Boys.

Set in London 1985, In the Long Run is about the Easmon family. Amid the tower blocks and shell suits, life for Walter (Elba) and Evelyn Easmon is all about quiet routine. They arrived from Sierra Leone 13 years ago and are happy earning enough to pay the bills with a bit left over to send back home. However, the family’s life is turned upside down when Walter’s brother arrives in the U.K., bringing chaos in his wake and igniting a passion for music in Walter’s son.

Elba’s production company, Green Door, is making the series with Sprout Pictures, Stephen Fry and Gina Carter’s shingle.
